A maxi skirt is one of the versatile items in my wardrobe. I only have a few but like to mix them with different tops to create different looks that works in a variety of settings. A simple black maxi is one of the most versatile pieces you can have your in your wardrobe. With a crop and kimono you can acheive a cool festival look as I did here. Or with a casual tee and slouchy cardi you can head to the shops to pick up some groceries. Add a tucked in shirt and off to work it is.

While a black maxi skirt is a great wardrobe staple it's always great to have some different prints to play with for something a bit unique. Leopard print is not my normal style. I see many girls completely rock it but for some reason whenever I think I might pull it off I feel like mutton dressed as lamb. Which is why this skirt hasn't seen the light of day since the first time I showed it on the blog (here). However in the name of adventure I gave it another go! This time pairing it with a loose long sleeved tee and some coloured beads to bring out the orange strip. The slouchy vibe is much more my style and to my surprise I've worn this outfit multiple times in the last few weeks making it a firm favourite.

Chambray Blue

Just a quick post today to show my new favourite dress from City Chic. I had a membership gift voucher and a birthday voucher that needed to be used so I popped into my local store to check out what was new and came across this pretty summer dress. Definitely not my usual style; girly, classic and cute! I think now that I'm getting over my aversion to summer dresses will begin to infiltrate my wardrobe further.

Something about the pale plus denim-like colour with the pretty white flowers and lace-trimmed neckline makes me feel so preppy and clean. Especially paired with a crisp white cardigan and white flats. The great thing about a simple pretty dress is that they need very little to complete the look. A great dress can be all you need to look put together and ready-to-go.

Maybe not what is expected but this week for the Aussie Curves theme of 'Headwear' I'm going less fashion focused and taking a more "lifestyle" spin (and a little dorky looking!).

Until this year I had not ridden a bike for over 10 years. I used to ride all the time as a kid and early teenager and to be honest I was pretty good too! But then I got body conscious and felt awkward and didn't know what to wear blah blah blah. I don't think I'm alone when I say this next thing. As a fat girl I feel like I can't exercise and I can't not. Make any sense? A lot of people's reaction to overweight people is to say "oh my god why don't you just exercise???". But then when you do there's plenty of disgusted stares and whispered comments. People don't want to see my ugly fat body so they want me to exercise and lose weight but they also don't want to see my ugly fat body exercising and (god forbid, just like anyone) sweat and get out of breath. So I suppose they'd really just rather I didn't exist at all.

My response to the above? Small narrow minds don't actually have the ability to widen and therefore restrict their owners to their own detriment. And whose problem is that? Definitely not mine. Poor silly mean people. Now like I said I hadn't ridden for 10 years so I didn't always have this outlook. But this year, with increased confidence and great friendships (both at home and online) I've learnt that by hiding, being apologetic and hating myself I only hurt myself and I will never win in the eyes of silly mean people. So why the fuck bother?

So here I am in my riding gear and my dorky helmet doing whatever the hell I want to.
